Threading the beads is the most difficult part of this necklace, once you get past the beading the necklace is worked in no time at all.
Although I used frosted glass chips for this necklace it would look amazing made with semi precious or even precious stone chips.
What you need:
Size 3 crochet thread
Size C2 (2.75 mm) hook
At least 170 chip beads
Button, with or without shank
Scissors
Small yarn needle
Necklace:
This is somewhat of a loose pattern. Play with it to suit your tastes.
My necklace ended up being 15 inches long.
Finish end of thread with nail polish or fabric stiffener. Let dry.
(You may need to repeat this several times along the stringing)
Thread beads, I find that chip beads can often be drilled poorly so you may want to have more than 170 on hand encase you need to discard a bead or two.
Chain 12, sl st to join
Work 15 sc around ring, sl st to finish
Chain to desired length of necklace
(I chained 81)
Sc part way down the ch
The beaded portion of this necklace is 4 inches so you will need to measure the length each side will need to be to make your necklace even. For me it was about 5 inches.
Pull up beads
sc into the next 2 chains
repeat
The pattern of the beads is:

After you are finished adding beads sc to end.
Sl st around ring.
Break thread and weave in ends.
Cut a small length of thread and thread it into the plain end of the necklace.
Sew on button.
