Strawberry Shortcake

I remember making strawberry shortcakes with my mother when I was a little girl.

This looks so yummy I almost want to eat it.

What you need:

Worsted weight acrylic yarn

Tan, white, pink, and red

Size F (3.75 mm) hook

Polyester fiber fill
3D fabric in pink or white
Yarn needle

Clip to keep place

Scissors

Shortcake:

Work in continuous rounds

Tan

• Chain 2
• Round 1: Work 6 sc in first chain
• Round 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around - 12 st
• Round 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st, rep from * around - 18 st
• Round 4: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 2 sts, rep from * around - 24 st
• Round 5: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 3 sts, rep from * around - 30 st
• Round 6: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 4 sts, rep from * around - 36 st
• Round 7: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 5 sts, rep from * around - 42 st
• Round 8 *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 6 sts, rep from * around - 48 st
• Round 9: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 7 sts, rep from * around - 54 st
• Round 10: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 8 sts, rep from * around - 60 st 
• Round 11: sc in each sc, working in back loops only - 60 st
• Round 12-13:  sc in each sc - 60 st
• Round 14: sc in each sc, working in back loops only - 60 st
• Round 15: *Sc2tog, sc in each of next 8 sts, rep from * around - 54 st
• Round 16: *Sc2tog, sc in each of next 7 sts, rep from * around - 48 st
• Round 17: *Sc2tog, sc in each of next 6 sts, rep from * around - 42 st
• Round 18: *Sc2tog, sc in each of next 5 sts, rep from * around - 36 st
• Round 19: *Sc2tog, sc in each of next 4 sts, rep from * around - 30 st
• Round 20: *Sc2tog, sc in each of next 3 sts, rep from * around - 24 st
• Round 21: *Sc2tog, sc in each of next 2 sts, rep from * around - 18 st
• Round 22: *Sc2tog, sc in each of next 1 sts, rep from * around - 12 st
• Stuff lightly
• Round 23: sc2tog around - 6 st
• Sew up end and weave in ends

 Whipped Topping:

Work in continuous rounds,

back loops only

White

• Chain 2
• Round 1: Work 6 sc in first chain
• Round 2: sc in each sc - 6 st
• Round 3: Work 2 sc in each sc around - 12 st
• Round 4: Work 2 sc in each sc around - 24 st
• Round 5: sc in each sc - 24 st
• Round 6: sc2tog around - 12 st

 Strawberry Slices:

Make 3+

With pink chain 6

Skip first chain from hook and work

 sl st to center st

chain 2

2 dc

1 hdc

2 sc

 finish off

 With red sc around edge of slice, you can start at the top or the bottom.

Assembly:

Sew strawberry slices to top of shortcake. Lightly stuff whipped topping and sew to center of the top. Optional, accent strawberry slices with 3D paint.
